Special Thanks and Update in the Wake of the Museum Fire

THANK YOU WALL FIRE DEPARTMENT
On behalf of Wounded Knee the Museum, we would like to thank the Wall Fire Department for their dedication and heroism in suppressing the fire on September 2nd.
As we move forward, your service to the community will serve as an inspiration to us. Additionally, the museum would like to extend thanks to all first responders, police officers and firefighters for their service in the memory of the terrorist attacks on the Trade Center in New York on September 11th, 2001.
Also, we would like to thank Marilyn Pourier of the Oglala Lakota College’s Historical Center for her words of encouragement and sharing our sense of loss as well as Eric Brunnemann of the Badlands National Park for his offer to help us in the cleanup effort.

What the museum is faced with now is the demolition of the interior walls and material, removing wiring, plumbing, drop ceiling panels and burned material and we are continuing progress in this area.

We would like to thank people from around the world for their calls and emails.
