Since the Wounded Knee Museum fire on September 2, 2012 we have received very many inspiring words and have been moved by our visitors' comments. None more than the one we recently received from South Dakota:
"Please rethink, re-do, reuse, recycle and replace the museum. It is so important to tell the truth! Truth to those now and in the future generations. The souls that were wrongfully lost in American history cannot be brought back, but the truth of their story can be told. It is only a building, time and money; but, the truth is the 'battle.'"
-T.A. South Dakota

Wounded Knee Museum, Fire of September 2, 2012
On October 8th we received the building permit for the rebuild of the existing structure from the City of Wall South Dakota Council.
We would like to thank all of our former visitors and other suporters who have graciously donated and encouraged our continuing future and rebuilding efforts.
As a side note, products are not available from the online Wounded Knee Museum Store because of our loss of inventory. We will be updating the online Museum Store in the future to include only current inventory. Thank you for your patience.
